For Additional Sport Son Page 5 Regal And Sentnefr M,’ Competitions Open A_t Curling Club “Tonight'- Play for the Raul Flour and Sentner ‘Trophies will get. under- way at the Charlottetown Curling Club tonight. A semi-final match in the Wright Trophy competition wlll be played this afternoon. A total of forty-ona- rinks, If in the Regal and 28 in the Sent- ner, are entered in the competi- tions. 'I\he Regal play is for curl- ers having up to and includinf four years curling experience. The balance of the club member- ship will be in the Sentner com- petition. The Games Committee in an- nouncing the draw for the Sent- ner Trophy have asked the co- operation of all curlers in mak- lng the event one of the highlights of the curling season. It was pointed out that. there are quite s number of strong rinks entered and an effort made to place all memb a of the club. PROVINCIAL PLAYDOWNI On Wednesday. February 2nd. rinks from Alberton. Summerside, Montague and Charlottetown, will get together at the Charlottetown Club for the big event of the curl- ing season—play for the Provin- cial Championship - British Con- sols ZProp-hy. The double knock out system will be used. Play starts Wednesday 9:30 A. M. with other rounds the same day at 2:30 pan and 7:30 p.m. ‘mi-ea rounds will also be played on Thursday at the same hours with the final game scheduled for Friday. Mr. McAvity arrived in Char- lottetown over the weekend on a business trip and leaves tomorrow morning on return to Montreal. Ha hopes to confer with local tennis of- ficials while here. A progrann of tennis develop- ment has been drawn-up which will affect every Province, Mr. McAvlty said. It is hoped that better super- vision will be given players and that tournaments will be conduct- ed on a wider scale with an op- portunity for competitors to ad- vance fmm district to provincial to regional and finally Dominion ccm- petition. Mr. McAvity was non-committal on a report that the Canadian Ten- nis Associatlo Championships would be held in Halifax this year.
