Mr. Smit has been one of our successful Islanders abroad. Some years ago he departed for the West, where by his energy and tact he met with a fair show of success. This accomplished he turned his foot-steps homeward to the green Vales of his native Isle, and pur- chased a very desirable property in the flourishing settlement of Tryon. He dis- covered one more lack of felicity, which has been completely filled in the person of his happy bride. Miss Wright has so endeared herself to the people of Crapaud, she will be sadly missed. For the period of ten years she has occupied the position of organist in the Methodist church. She received a tangible proof of the appreciatf n of her faithful services in this situslfion, when a few of her friends, on behalf of the congregation, on the eve- nin prior to her marriage, presented her wit an address, accompanied with a nice purse.
