WOMEN'S INSTITUTE CTNVEN- TION The district convention of the Marehfield, York, Stanhope, Blast, West, and Central Royalties and Spring Park Women's Institutes was held in Spring Perk School on the afternoon and evening of Oct. 3rd. Mrs. E. Heartz, the President, pre- sided. The afternoon session opened with the singing of “O Canada," followed by the reading of "The Creed." Mrs. McCabe, on behalf of the Spring Park women's Institute, warmly welcomed the visitors. This address was replied to on behalf of the visiting Institutes by Mrs. Mc- Leod of Central Royalty. The min- utes of the last District Convention held at Marshtield were read and adopted- Report-s on the year's work were then given by the different Iri- stitutes represented. Mrs. Mann gave a very interesting discription of her ‘“I‘rlp to the Coast." She held the deep interest of all throughout her address which was given in an ex- ceptionally pleasing manner. This was followed by a. very excellent pa- per onLnstitute work by the Super- visor, Mrs. Tait. Mrs. Tait explained the reasons for holding District Con- ventions, and gave some practical suggestions for improving same. She also mitlined the responsibilities of each individual member. At the con- clusion of this address, Mrs. l-lenrisz, on behalf of the Institutes in Con- vention, presented Mrs. Tait with a beautiful tray.
