After they let the tim- ber go Alex stepped hack over the scow and in dropping was stunned and only came to the surface once and could not grasp the pike pole held out to him but sank sudenly. His body was buried on Saturday last at Orwell Head, where his parents reside, and their grief is great at the loss of this noble young man who went west about 5 year ago (U11 of life and energy.
