November 21, 1985 Congratulatlons Dear fellow students, Congratulations are in order for the two groups who organized extremely successful social events inthe last week. These two groups are the Education Society and the Residence House Committees. Both the Lyp Sync Pub and the formal Co—ed were smashing suc- cesses and 1 was very lucky to have attended both. The Lyp Sync on the night of Thursday the fourteenth was a demonstration of pure entertain— ment. Imagination and energy were the pillars of the evening. The Education Society is to be congratulated for their fine ef- forts. All of the performers are to be congratulated as well. Special congrats go out to the winners, “The Four Neat Guys” from Blanchard 315 and Stevie Wonder-.and his gang who came in second place. Also the four hundred plus who came out de- serve a hand as well. Hopefully, the second semester will see another Lyp Sync compliments of the Education So’Ciety‘. The formal dance, organized by the residence committees, was excellent as well. On Friday the Personal PIZZA NIGHT Every MONDAY at Father’s STAND-UP BAR & LOUNGE From 5 p.m. — 1 a.m. You can get a Personal Pizza plus Beverage of yourchoice for only $2.99 Reg. $4.15 fifteenth approximately seventy couples showed up in their finest formal attire to literally dance the night away. The atmosphere of the Rodd Royalty's Garden Court and the entertaining sounds of the up and coming “Tyler” provided a wonderful accent to the evening. The evening was a definite en- couragement for the residence committees to continue making energetic contributions to univer- sity life. 1 am pleased to have this op- portunity to congratulate students when they put their collective imagination and energy to work. This supports my primary as— sumption that l arrived at when l reflected last year on the role of the Student Union. The‘Student Union is not just the elected officers and staff whom you find in the Student Union Barn. We do our best to provide services and activities for the student body. But ultimately the Student Union is you and a rich university experience is a reality only when you throw in your support and imagination. Sincerely, Gordon Cobb S.U.
