Sane were worse off than us” A'snall point of interest‘ to UPEI students is that apathy at this ‘ university is not as bad ~thisyearasitisatorther universities. v A good example of thlS'v , is that so far this year, all the main events and pubs held at The Barn have seen good crowds. ‘Saturday we att— , ended a dance at Dalhousie as part of the conference to hear the band, and there was a low attendance. A place liké Dalhousie with approx. ~7,000 students and only about 600 people showed. Now as far. as I'can see, UPEI has got than-beat this year. ' We came'back with a lot of ideas. Phyllis Norring and Joanne'Baglole are bubbling with ideas to help UPEI socially, but two people can't do all the work. They are open to all ideas. Drop down representatives and how their university functions socially. Other topics that were mentioned at the conference; showed how about advertising, selling advance tickets, door policy, security, how to pick bands to satisfy the wants of students, how to deal with agents when booking bands, and legal. aspects in dealing with bands. The conference also supplied us with a showcase giving a chance to hear a few bands. We also had an opportunity to méet the agents with vman we've talked to over the phone for years. The agents gave a run dam of What bands they represent and what music they play. :. The last session was an exchange of ideas between universities. Here we managed to pick up many good ideas that have a great potential of working here. And believe it or not, we had a few ideas to to The Barn and talk to give out that other uni- the Co—Chairpersons, or versities were interested in. leave your name if they ' Attending this conference, \_are not there, and they the three of us realized g. will get in touch with that UPEI is not such a bad you.
