Thill commission has made a thorough study of the submerged life of the Eastern Atlantic coast. It has de- cided to recommend that only fisher- men with licenses can take lobsters. The purpose is to restrict the take and to prevent any fishermen keeping s. female lobster. These must either be ‘returned to the sea or sold to a Dominion hatchery. The report ap- proves of the plan of New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island leasing oyster mud areas at present barren for the purpose of planting with oys- ters. It will recommend a sine limit for hard shell clams; that the expor- tation of little neck clams be prohi- bited for a time, that there be a. clos- ed season for soft shell clams and that steps be taken to encourage the Deriwinkle and the vyhelk. The com- mission which prepared the report consisted of Prof. Prince, Dominion Fishery Commissioner: l-Ion. John McLean, P, Fl. Island, S. Y. Wilson, Halifax, and Richard O'Leary, New Brunswick. f HANDS OFF " I I ASIA MINER .¢ CONSTANTINOPNIE, -January Z9- Oiiii Wefem of military training in . MIHIIIME PHIIIIINSES ISK BIS INCHEISE OTTAWA, Jan. 29.-The Maritime Provinces want larger allowances from the Dominion treasury and this morning they applied to the govern- ment for increases, giving the reason why their request should be granted. The application was made on bc- half of Prince Edward Island, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia, and was presented to a full meeting of the Dominion government by Attorney General Grimmer, of New Brunswick and Premier Maheson, of Prince Ed-. warll- Island. The recent enlargement of the pro- vinces of Ontario and Quebec was made the basis for the demand. It was pointed out that the lnndsl bought from the Hudson Bay Com- pany in 1870 were bought for theI whole Dominion and paid for out ofi the general fund.
