Morrison of this city received a tele- gram yesterday afternoon. announc illg the death at Detroit on Monday night of his eldest brother, Mr. Willdam B. Morrison, .\ir. Ziiorrison who was in his eev- ehty ninth year having been born on August 30, 1847, was the sldest son of the late Mr. J. W. Morrison. He started life as a chemist and druggiet with the late hirffhieodore DasBrisay in 1864. In 1871 he with- drew from this partnership and opened a drugstore on the south side of Queen street, retiring from business in 1877, and becoming ‘City Clerk under the Mayoralty of the late Mr. J. S. Carveli. He remained in thlls position for eight yeare, discharging the duties faithfully and eflioiently. and to the enlire satisfaction of the Coun- oil. which pleaded with him to withdraw his resignation and Promised him a considerable in- crease in salary should he decide to remain. it may be mentioned that the City of Charlottetown owes more to the combine/tion of Carvell and Morrbon than to any other oiiicials in its hiietory.
