MILLER, lioofs jaid by our agents guaranteed for ten, Srr—I heartly approve of your course in exposing Dr. MclIntyre’s attack in the House of Commons last session, on the men of this Province, who he charged with hav- ing sent to Ottawa fishery bounty claims when they had not taken the quantity of fish required, There is no doubt but this statement of the Dr’s, made from his place in the House of Commons, has had a bad affect on the distribution of the bounty in this Island ; not only in causing delay but i i } j General Agent for Maritime Provinces, Moncton, N. B July 15—Im ATTEI NT ION. Picnic and Tea Party Committees, You can get the bess Goods, at the lowest prices, at the **City Steam Bakery.” You can return all Goods not used, if in good condition. The Government would naturally object 'to paying the bounty to those who were inot entitled to it, when told they were | doing so by so high an authority as the | member for King’s County. If such state- ments were reported to any great extent in ‘the Commons it would not be surprising if the bounty were withdrawn altogether. I notice that both the Patrict and New Era have taken great pains to show that ‘Dr. McIntyre did not use the words attri- buted to him, and to prove their case publish in fall the speech made by him on that occasion. Evidently the Editors of those papers are too stupid to perceive that the publication of the speech shows clearly that you did not misquote the Doctor, and ‘fully subetantiates your charge against him, The portion of the Doctor's speech which his friends contend is not an attack upon ‘the men of this Island reads as follows: ; mediums, $3.00. Hake and haddock are doing better and would quote hake $2.00; haddock, $2.00; cusk, $2.25; cod oil, 40 to 42 cents; herring oil, 50 cents per small gallon. Barrel herrings only in fair demand ; large Nova Scotia shore splita, $4.50 ; round, $2, gibbed $250 ; Bay Shore gibbed $2.25; Bay Sbore split $2.50; Bay of Islands split $2.25; alewives, $3.25 to $3.50; salmon very quiet at $16 per bbl., receipts quite large. Eggs are quiet and best marks will not command over 18 cents per doz. for Island and Nova Scotia stock. Yours truly, Evwarp T. Russert & Co., 284 State Street. Boston, August 12, 1884.
