Brooke Clsxton, Minister of Defence, said that over 10 million dollars had been spent by the Defence Department at the Sum- mersido air station in 1060-51. This includes construction work and salaries to civilian and mili- tary personnel. This, he said. was made up of eight million for con- struction, two million for service payroll and 5300.000 for civilian payroll. Ho revealed that there are now 961 service people at the R.C.A.F station with 892 dependents and there are facilities at. the school for the accommodation of 263 school children. Referring to his recent visit to Korea, Mr. claxton said that Lt. Lcith Crue of Bummersido was his escorting officer for most. of the time, and he paid tribute to the fine administrative work done in Korea by the Summersidc officer. The squadron Leader Lewis efficiency Trophy was presented again this year to the squadron by Group Oaptain Kenyon to Flight Lt. Mur- ray shanks. commanding officer of the squadron. This trophy has been won by the summerside squadron in 1948-49 and 1951. In 1950 it was won by the Charlottetown Squad- ron and is emblematic of the high- est efficiency shown by any squad- ron during the year. The three cadets who were pre- sented with their wings last even- ing were Charles Simpson, Gordon MacDonald and Thane Bagnall.
