The shooting of the visit- ors, particularly in the second frame, bewildered the Saints and locals on the short end. : However, the Saints came on strong Wednesday evening to de- feat Prince of Wales 40-31. Mahar found the range again and came ~ out ata scoring slump to while Lavers collec 10. _ The chances of the Saint$ obtaining a playoff berth hinge on so many circumstances, that we dare not make a prediction at thils late date.—Let it suffice to say that they are not out of the running. No matter which’ teams are in the finals, we should see some very good ball before the season closes. : ANNANDALE COMBINES Joe Maher’s Juniors took to the ice for their fourth game of the. season on Tuesday evening to do battle with the visiting Combin- es, who made the long trip to the University despite the poor driv- fng conditions and heavy snow. With little effort the visitors took the lead in the first period and was»suspended due.to the amount of time consumed by other activi- ties, to determine the league wine ner for this season. The finals will be counted on the basis of total pinfall, with the highest pin fall today gaining a “‘bye’’ until the final round. In regular league play, John Whalen came out with the high single and the high average, whereas Gerry ian sae high three and the Junior No. I squad had high pinfall, both on the bas- is of thrée games and on the bas is of one game, a sure sign that they are a team to be aware of in the final matches. ALUMNI ENJOY RINK .. The Alumni of S@Dunstan’s enjoyed_the benefits of the new rink over the week-end as they took over the structure’ foh the evening and, according to some _ relived the days of old ° with a hockey match between the, old pros and then a skate which was énjoyed by all. This is the first time that the Alumni have used the rink and we sincerely hope that they derived as much enjoyment fom their outing as the students do when they use the facilities now present. We also hope that the Association sees fit to return again for a sim- ilar event in the very ear future, and-continues to do so from tme ANNUAL RETREAT The annual retreat will be held at the Uniersity this week.
