What the hell is it? Is there a secret cult involved in NSO? Where do my friends disappear to for the first week of school? Isn’t that the weird orientation without the binge drinking, vandalism, and degradation? As coordinator for NSO 2000, I feel obliged to remove the shroud of mystery and unveil one of UPEI’s best kept secrets. (Actually, | suppose the 250-300 students that participated each of the last four years know about it) Officially, NSO is a week dedicated to facilitating the transition of new students to UPEI by organizing fun events that promote team building and socialization. Unofficially, it’s a kick-ass good time. For those of you unfamiliar with the term “kick-ass,” it’s synonymous with excellent, wicked, rockin’, amazing, gnarly, oreven swell. NSO isa veritable blast-a-thon (that’s my cool new word, use it). Events in the past have included a beach party, The Big-Ass Island House Party (a bonanza of inflatable rides, a casino, free food, and a magician), Shinerama(anevent to raise money for cystic fibrosis), a hypnotist, N 2000 | NSO 2 on page 17
