Besides the four Y's Men's Club suppers, they held one Afternoon Tea. Despite it being a rainy after- noon, tha ‘Ra was well attended and passed off most successfully. The Ladies are doing everything in their power to assist the Y. M. C. A., during these critical times, and our thanks are due them for their earnest efforts and for their financial help..'I‘heir own meeting this month was most encouraging. Membership: It is most difficult to secure membership these days, and our total membership is not as large as we would like it, nev- ertheless we should feel encourag- ed that we are holding our own during a difficult and trying per- iod. New members secured this month were nine, renewals secured were eighteen. Bowling: At the present time we have six leagues in operation, and a few other groups who come once a week. The leagues are as fol- lows: Rebekah, Commercial, C. N. R. Y's Men's, Y's Menettes, and Zion Guildl We have room now for three or four more leagues and in the near future, we may be able to have several more in operation. We are glad to report that during the month the mid-winter refin- ishing was accomplished without loss of time, and we were able to keep all leagues going at the time. This was one of the major tasks of the month, and it took your staff almost two months to com- plete it. Finances: During January a special effort was made by the Finance Committee to clear up as many of our outstanding pledges as possible. It was a difficult mat- ter, and not very much headway was made. Another special effort should be made as soon as pos- sible. In this respect letters have gone out to many of those having unpaid pledges for 1931, paving the way for a‘ personal call from some of the Directors. If a real earnest close our books this year without adding to our overdraft. In closing, with the end of our fiscal year only ten weeks distant, we have serious cause for real earnest thinking, especially for the close of this years’ business, as well as considering our 1932 May Financial Campaign, the set us and help which we may need. If we set ourselves to the task, seek- ing God's help, we can still comc through successfully. Respectfully submitted, R. A. Pencilcton, General Secretary.
