Mr. Robert leard, president of ' the Union, conducted the service nnd Rev. W. N. Byers capably ad- dressed the congregation on the theme: "Candle llghting". A special musical selection was rendered by the Mises Mildred and Dorothy Coffin, Gladys and Connie Jay. The glrla' choir was heard to advantage in a fine musical selection. The service closed with the singing of "Silent Night" and the lighting of the traditional can- es. on Tuesday evening, December 23rd. Rev. W. N. and Mrs. Byers were host and hostess to 36 mem- bers of the Young People's Union and two visitors at a. Christina: arty. A short devotional service was conducted by Rev. and Mrs. Byers after which a recrea.tlonal com- mittee composed of Dorothy Cof- fin, Connie Jay, Robert Leard and Douglas Byers, conducted a most enjoyable program of games and stunts. Santa Claus then appeared and distributed gifts to everyone, from a beautifully decorated tree. Miss Gladys Jay, on behalf of the Young People, presented Rev, and Mrs. Byers with a lovely elec- tric table liimtp. A delicious lunch, prepared by Mrs. Byers, was then served and a lively sing-song was conducted by Mildred Coffin, to the enjoyment of all. A vote of thanks was moved by Lane Douglas, seconded by Connie Jay. and presented to Rev. and Mrs. Byers for their kindness and hospitality. The party closed with the slug- ing of "Auld Lang Syne".
