La grippe which bas been eo prevalent for the past few months; 1s about over, bat it has left its marks breaking the family-circle of many homes, l-aving be hind those who weep forthe loved ones tnat have gone to their reward. A lecture was given in the Kingsboro bali on the firat of March, by Rev. Mr. Simpson. The lecturer showed the dif- ferent stages of man from infancy until he stands at the brink of the grave. The schocl of this section is progresting rapidly uoder the faithful management of its teacher, Angus McDovald, M. A., who deserves credit for his ability as ap instructor. We regret to hear that ene of our resi- dents, Charles Young, intends leaving for Montreal in the early part of tbe spring to study the many diseases of “ man’s faith- ful friend” the horee. Mr. Young is to make a special study for the cure of balky horses, Miss Annie Lappiere, who is kvown throughont Canaca for ber vocal and musical talents, aod who is visiting here, has started a singing and music school for the becefit of the young people. Dandy ‘Jim. OBITUARY. It is with feelings of regret that we [record to-day the death of Patrick Dougherty, an old and highly respected residentef Emyvale, which took place at the residence of his son,Francis Dougherty. Deceased, who came of long-lived ancestors, his father, the late Owea Dougherty, having lived to be 101 years, was in the 93rd year of his age; and during the whole course of his earthly pilgrimage he scarcely knew what it was to be affected with sickness of any kind. But old age, under which we all must bow, had com- Dedd’s Dyspepsia Tablets Cure by Removing the Cause. —— They Make New, Rich Blood and Give Strength to the Narves, and Vigor to the Entire Svetem—Nature’s Cure in Nature’s Way. Nervous Headache ia, perhaps, the most prominent after-eflect of the much dread- ed “Grippe.” Words canaot descrive the sufferings of the thousands of victimes, nor is it needed thatthey should. ‘hose who suffer meed no description. Their e>.perience ig all~ sufficient for them. But tell ihem of something that will give them relief from theirtortures, ‘and you gain their attention in a moment. It is for this reason that sueh a genuine, deep, and wide-spread interest bas been aroused with reference to Dodd’s Dyspep- sia Tablets. This remedy affords a simple and speedy cure ror Nervous Headache, following the “Grippe.” — SS SURE GURE FOR NERVOUS HEADACHE. SS eo aoe eee f Iteffectaa cure by removing from the system the cause of tae trouble. “The Grippe” causes arevere strain on the nerves. Daily, hourly, they are weakened and shattered, un iltbey reach the climax, aud no longer fulfil their du- ties, though they stil! endeavor to do so. They attemptio perform their duties, red hot rod of steel on raw, living fleeh — im Other words it causes Nervous Head- ache. Dodd’s Dyspepsia Tablets begin the cure, right atthe reot of the trouble. They (by assuring prompt ard thorough digestion) provide a full supply of rich, fresh, nourishivg blosd. On this, the perves are fed, and gain strergth every second, Iu a remarkably short period a wonder- ful chasge occurs. Restored to their natural strength, with al! their powers of endurance regained, the nerves are able to withetand the attacks of disease, and to perform their duties as it was intended they should. Mr. Dougherty may be clased amovug the early ploueers of Canada. He ewigrated from Lreland in 1840, and eetth d in West Montagne, whence he removed io Emyvale, Lot 30. Emyvale and sur- ruunding country at that time was almost an entire wilderness. ‘here were no roads in many places except uvarrow crooked pathwaye, aod very few bridges spanned the rivers and streams. Many indeed were the disadvantages experienced in thore dave. Beasts of burden were an ex- ceptional article, so that people were oblig- ed, in order to secure the secessaries of life, to convert themselves, as it were, into articles of the like nature. The old church at Lot 65, which is now re;laced by a magnficieat structure, was in course of erection at that time, and Mr. Dough- erty, it is raid, can be credited with having carried on his back the most of the boards required in building from a sawmill over three miles distant. For courage, pluck and perseverance, he scarcely new what were their opposites. When be came toEmy vale to settle he was obliged to stumd out of the green bush a place on which to build his house, but after years of thrifty honest labor,he sucezeded in securing acom fortable honie for bis family which consists of ten, five of whom have gone before him and five more are leic behind to cher~ ish the memory of a kind, bonest and in- dustrious father. Dromore Notes. eee Gur echool is doing remarkably well uns der the careful management of Mr. W. O’Brien. Oar energetic furrier, John Grimes, has suceeded in catching several foxes this win'er. Simon E., owned by Robert McGuirk, will yet make his mark. Flying M., owned by John Hugher, is an animal that is too well known to need any comment. Elmo, owned by Mr. James McCannel, is an anima! that deserves more than praise and a _ passing notice, and is under the able traioing of Mr. Owen Wise, who knews if a horse can trot or vot. We must cov- gratulate Mr. McCannel upon being the owner Of so fine a horse, and we expect yet to see him make his mark, D C.. owned by Mr. Michael Burne, is a beau y and i- a horse thatthe owner ought to b- proud of. Bowlan¢e, owned hy the Mesers. Callaghan, is a horse whose career is tvo well known. Hunker S., owned by Mr. James Hand, is also a very fine animal, and its fame as a trotier Leeds no comment.
