. ISLAND NATURE TRUST’S FIRST ANNUAL AUTUMN BIRDING CLASSIC 
     
     A BIRDATHON IN SUPPORT OF 
     
     NATURAL AREAS CONSERVATION 
     
    
   
   
    
     This year, The Island Nature Trust will hold the First Annual Autumn 
     
     Birdathon. The funds raised by the birdathon will be used for the Trust's 
     
     natural areas conservation programs. To date, the Island Nature Trust's land 
     
     conservation programs have led to the Trust’s acquisition of 500 acres (200 ha) 
     
     of P.E.I. Natural Areas. In addition, 1,112 acres (450 hectares) of natural 
     
     areas have been protected by other methods. 
     
    

    
     You can help the Trust’s effort this year by sponsoring the Island Nature 
     
     Trust's Birdathon team members, Dan McAskill, Linda Thomas, and Roberta Palmer. 
     
     The Trust's team expects to find between 70 and 90 species of birds during the 
     
     Birdathon which is scheduled for October 15th, 1995. If the weather is quite 
     
     poor, the team will conduct its counts within fourteen days of this date. All 
     
     counts will be conducted under the American Birding Association Rules. 
     
    

    
     To contribute to the Birdathon, simply fill in your name on the attached 
     
     form and return it to the Island Nature Trust, P.O. Box 265, Charlottetown, 
     
     P.E.I. C1A 7K4. If it is a flat pledge for the count, it would save money and 
     
     time if you would submit your pledge with the sheet. Cheques should be made 
     
     payable to the Island Nature Trust. In addition to you receiving a copy of the 
     
     results, they will be published in the Natural History Society’s Island 
     
     Naturalist so that the information contributes to our ongoing biological survey 
     
     information on bird occurrence. This information is used to update the Field 
     
    

    
     cklist of Birds for Prince Edward Island and is extremely useful to anyone 
     
     hing to know more about bird occurrence. Birdathon members are asked to send 
     
     their completed forms and the money to the Trust by October 28th. 
     
    

    
     If you would like a pledge sheet to help collect for one of the teams, 
     
     simply call Barb McDonald or Jackie Waddell at the Island Nature Trust office 
     
     at 892-7513 or Dan McAskill at 569-4351 (evenings). A tax creditable receipt 
     
     will be automatically issued by the Trust for all donations to the Birdathon of
