The Country Club was the scene

given by Hon. N. A. and Madame
Helcourt in honor of Tom and Mrs
Davies and the bridesmaids and ush-
ers at. their wedding recently. Covers
were laid for fourteen, and violets‘
were used for decorations on table.l

Thursday afternoon at five o'e1ock
the dwelling house of Hector A. Mc-
Lean. of Long Creek, was badly gut-
ted by fire, which started in a bed-
room upstairs. Mirs. McLean was the
flrst to notice the fire, and the alarm
was soon given. The neighbors quick.
ly gathered and made strenuous ef-
forts to subdue the flames, several
endangering their lives in so doing.

saved, but considerably damaged in
the removal from the burning build-
