A rare chance to make homes cheerful. Particulars to-morrow. On Saturday evening two petty thieves were noticed to operate through a broken e of glass in the shop window of the Jnion House. The break in the glass was rather small for the admission of their hands, and wire hooks were formed to answer their purpose. With these they fished out several pipes, but before their booty increased to a large extent, they were noticed by the proprietor. He pursued them ata lively gait down Queen Street, but they succeeded in leaving his sight after passing the Commercial House corner. On Saturday night last, shortly after 9 o'clock, two young bipeds, acting in the capacity of Reynard, entered a hen coop situated a little off iower Queen street with the intention of relieving it of some of its Cochin occupants. In the darkness they slowly picked their steps toward the coop. As the one who led the way was about to pick a rooster from his perch, the other, who was walking in another direction, fell across a calf that was lying near the coop. At this juncture the door of the stable closed the calf commenced to bawl Justily and the owner appeared on the scene. The thieves, however, managed to effect an exit without apprehension.
