The body cf a man was found in the creek alongside the railway track about a quarter of a mile from Moncton station on Saturday noon. It had evidently been in the water some weeks and the features were unrecognizable. An inquest was held before Coroner Wortman on Saturday evening. An examination of the body showed it to be dressed in black cloth coat, dugonal vest and dark homespun pants and white shirt. In his pockets were found 60 cents in silver and coppers, a knife, tobacco, pipe, trunk check number 2363 and a key; also a letter from W. H. Power, Braintree, Mass., dated April 24th, post marked April 25th, ‘and addressed to Dennis Power, Merland, Antigonish, Nova Scotia. The letter a’vised Dennis Power to proceed to Braintree without delay, as he would probably be able to get work there. Enquiry at the office of the general passenger agent of the Invercolonial shows that a letter was received two weeks ago from the station agent at Tracadie, Antigo- nish, to the effect that a man uamed Power had purchased a ticket, May 2nd, from that place tou Boston, but never arrived at his destination, his trunk lying unclaimed in Bostor. An attempt was at once made to trace the ticket, bat only the coupon from Tracadie to New Giasgow could be found and no other part had been taken up. Power would reach Moncton in the night and would be obliged to wait here six hours before proceeding on his journey to St. John (under the old time table). The rail- way embankment at the creek where the body was found is very narrow and _ steep. liow he met his fate is mere conjecture, but some suppose he lost his ticket and discovering his loss rushed out of the car when in motion, and jumped off at the creek, when he rolled over the bank. No ticket was found on the body. The trunk check found on the body corresponded with that issued to Powers. ©'Brien in Dublin. The Secretary was ordered to have 1,000 copies printed, and to send chem to Super-; intendents the same as formerly. Mr. Alfred Rowley, of Marysville, was! reported to have been elected a member of | large lot of new the General Missionary Board. 2 After disposing of some routine business, Conference adjourned, Dr. Pickard pro- nouncing the benediction.
