all the teachers engaged in the
Public Schools of the Province

that the fce of One Dollar charged

of Education then discussed the

ment of the teachers then took
place, followed by a very interest-

The remaining-period of the Coll-
veution was spent in discussing
methods oi' teaching; Sapt
Rogers, Mr. Shaw, Mr. H. Hynes
and a number of the experienced
teacIier’s taking part. Much inter-
est was shown and this feature of
the Convention no doubt proved
valuable to all. Meeting then
closed by singing the National
Anthem.
ENCOUNTERED STORM -The
three masted American schooner
Ralph S. Part-ion`s. Capt. W. L. Pye.
New York, arrived in port this
week with a cargo of 666 tons of
salt from Cadiz, Spain for DeBlois
Bros. They encountered very
rough weather off the Grand
Banks and lost some sail, which
will be secured here before leav-
ing. At the time of leaving
Spain, August 19th, Captain Pye
heard no rumors of the revolution-
ary disturbance which has since
taken place in that country. The
previous voyage of the vessel was
from St. John to England with lum-
bei';I Capt. Pye visited here in
191 .
DR. KNIGHT IN SUMMERSIDE
-<Dr. A. P. Knight, chairman of the
Bio-logical, Board of Canada, is in
Summerside looking into the condi-
tion of the lobster industry. He
attributes the failure of this year
to tivo chief causes: first. overfish-
ing-too many men, too many boats
and too much gear. Dr. Knight
claims that the south shore fish-
ermen made li. great mistake five
years ago when they asked and ob-
tained lrointhe Dominion Govern-
ment thc prlvl-lege of fishing from
Ai:t'ust Illth to September Z!.lill as
this is part of the breeding season
of the lobster. Right up to the
time that the eggs are laid, fisher-
men are daily killing thousands of
females which contain millions oi'
eggs. This ie the second great
cause of failure of the lobster
catch this year in the late season.
The decrease in the lobster supply
Dr. Knight says has been going on
slowly und steadily for the past
‘thirty years. Il' the fishermen of
the late season are ilot willing to
abolish it, and protect the breeding
males the fishermen can only look
forward to a diminishing supply
for the future. Dr. Knight says

tion of the lobster factories in this

years. The big lack now, he de_-
