NorwitustaNpDine the storm and rain a very fair andience assembled at the Christian meet. ing house last evening to hear the subject of baptism discussed by Mr. R. B. Neal. Though a muchly discussed subject in our community the people have not lost their interest in it. Mr. Neal’s plan of presenting it was novel and interesting. After stating the different theories as to the action, subject and design, he assumed that an intelligent, earnest, honest man who had never heard the word ‘‘baptize” with an oped Bible in his hand would come to safe aud correct conclusions. The naturai conclusions of such a b yp ae a a in baptism preacher and candidate ‘* went down into the water,” that the candidate was ‘buried by baptism and raised up again” and came up ‘‘out ef the water” and walked in ‘‘newness of life” ; second, that ‘‘penitent be lievers,” ‘‘both men and women,” are the sub- jects ; third, that the design of baptism is ‘‘for the remission of sins.” Opportunity for ob- jection to these conclusions was given to an one in theaucdience.
