MARIAN HALL Though Marian Hall is off to a slow 1 and 1 start, Head Coach Donald Gunning Sather said af- ter an interview yesterday, that he is not worried. He informed us Chemmies Bulldoze Bios by Randy MacKinnon Pandemonium broke out last Sunday evening at the Alumni Gym as the chemistry society defeated the biology club in [wo straight volleyball games. The Chemmies, certainly un- jerrated entering the contest, came up with strong perfor- mances from Stephen Hughes, Gerri MacEachern, James Con- > nolly, and of course, Ronnie ‘the rocket launcher’ MacAuley, to soundly defeat the bios by scores of 28-10 and 28-14. ‘The games were close at times, but the Chemmies man- aged to take advantage of the bios lack lustre defense and score several key points in a row. The bios had some capa- ble team players including Margo Chase, Grant Gillis, Christine MacWilliams, Ricki Sahajpal, 5 after a pretty goal off the stick of Jag “Kordic” Pinkson who managed to play the whole game this time. Bert “The fish” Ronahan played his first game . Though Marian won the game, Head Coach Gunning Sather was not impressed because the soccer team, who played and excellent game, only had five players and a goalie. that Marian has yet to ice its best team since there are still cuts to be made. In there first game Marian just nipped the soccer team 6- and Peter MacKenzie, but given many glorious chances to score, they lacked the desire to convert such opportunities into points. The Chemmies were delighted to see second year stu- dent Spencer MacPhee come up with several key serves. His addi- tion to the chemistry squad along with Dawna Stevenson, Mark P. Walker, Paul Gallant, and Liz McNally (moral support) created a winning combination. Despite some awesome body- checks by Scotty “Crazy legs” November 26: This was our only scheduled game against the bios in the league, and the outcome defi- nitely determined the superior club within the science faculty. Better Luck in the years to come, Bios! Our next scheduled game is in the new year and we extend a welcome to all those majoring in chemistry to participate.
