The pall-bearers were Messrs. W. W. Walker, Frank Riggs, H, Van Iderstine, H. Acorn, W. N. Tanton, John Pierce. A BIT OF HISTORY.-Franklin K. Lane, minister of the interior in President Woodrow Wi1son's cabinet, is a figure of much interest in the maritime provinces. A Nova Scotia correspondent sends from Westville some interesting particulars regard- 'ing Mr. Lane. His grandfather, on the mother's side (Michael Burns) lived in New Glasgow many years ago when that place was only a small village. When the family moved from therd, some settled in the west- went to the United States. Carric, one of the daughters married Dr. Lane, who lived in Truro. They after- wards resided in, DeSable, Prince Edward Island for a time, and it was there that Franklin K. Lane was born. They afterwards went to Cali- fornia. Tbo older residents of New Glasgow speak very well of the Burns family. The father was a potter, and ‘Potter‘s Bridge, on the East River Road, where they lived, was named after him. This explains why the people in Westville and that vicinity feel more than passing in- terest in the Hon. Franklin K. Lane. WEDDING BELLS.-_Announcement is made of the coming marriage of Miss Annie W. DeVenne, supervising pervising nurse will- gn into eilect April 1, and the marriage will take place the last of May at her home in Waltham, says a Boston exchange. Miss DeVenne has been the eillcicnt head of the local stall of visiting nurses for two years, coming here in 1911 to succeed Miss Nannie Lager-= stedt, who resigned at that time _to become a bride. She is n daughter ot Mr. and Mrs. Samuel W. Dellenne of Waltham, and a graduate of the Wal- tham high school and the Waltham training school for nurses. For sev- eral months she was with the Cam- bridge Nurse associstion. She is s member of Beatrice Rebekha lodge. Mr. Curtis, who has been a resident oi this city f r four years, is the I0!! of Kr.
