PERKINS & STERNS. Charlottetown, Feb . 1, 1883. 8 Leiter has arrived at Kingstown in search of a missing young lady, who, by the death of her father, a baronet, has become heiross to a fortune of $10 000 per annum. Differ- eut accounts are given of the circumstanees. Une story is to the effect that the lady was residing in Kingstown some years ago and suddeuly disappeared, her whereabouts since not being known. Another statement is that the young lady when a bahe was left at the dour of a charity institution by her parents, who came over from England, the father having married beneath his station, and that the search is now being instituted for her by the widowed mother. Itis reported thata spike maker at Troy, N.Y. who is the seventh son of a seventh son, is so stead ly in demand by sick people, who believe that he is a born healer of diseases, that he has been obliged to abandon the nail factory and devote himeelf to his patients, and that a baseball player, who is also seventh son of a seventh son, is going tostart on a healing expedition. How the accident of bring born seventh in a line of sons can enable a man to scatter health broadcast is something that professors in medical colleges have never yet explained, but should the system prove satisfactory in practice no explanation will be necessary. To be healed merely by talking with a man who had half a d.zen brothers, born before him is much easier then going through a course of physic and being subject to the blunders of careless prescription clerks. If some seventh son will do some trifling thing, like extirpating a cancer or restoring a defective eye, just to show his genuine- nnss, he will find business enough to make him eternally bleas his birthday The breach of promise case in which Mr. Halliday Kingsley, thirty-six, London, a gentleman in the medical profeesion, claimed £2,000 damages from Miss Eliza Anne Peile, of Dublin, for not marrying himas she had promised, hasbeen concluded before Mr. Justice O’Brien, in Dublin. The plaintiff admitted that for some years he assumed the name of Stanley to escape from his creditors. The defendant's coun- sel contended that the plaintiff was a de- signing, heartless fellow, and the lady had a marvellons escape from him. The jury, on the first count, that a promise of marriage had been made, found for the plaintitf. They also found for the plaintiff on the second count that the promise bad not been rescinded. They awarded damages of one farthing. They found for the defendant on the count that the promise had been obtained by fraudulent representations. They also found for the defendant on the counter-claim for money leat, with £100 damages. The judge ac- cordingly gave judgment for the defendant, with costs. ST.
