Common Blue Mussel (Myttilus edulis): Found attached to hard bottoms, rocks, and shells. this is a very common shellfish of our region. The eel grass (Zostera marina) shown with it here is often found with this mussel in Island bays. Both play important roles in the ecology of our estuaries. l3
