Be it therefore enacted b the Lieutcnant Governor, Council and Assembly, as follows : l. The authority of the City oficers and the jurisdiction of the Mayor's and Police Courts shall extend unto and over all Acts, matters and thin s, civil or criminal, done it on the Harbour of Charlottetown and des- v over which jurisdiction hath beeiigiven by any Act, or Acts of Parliament, as if the words Mayor and Common Councilinan, or Common Councilmen, oi the said City had been inserted in each, anti every of said Acts. res ectivcly and the sentences pronounced. and jti goineuts given by such Mayor, and Common Councilmen utiilcr by virtue of the provisions of such Acts shall be equally valid as if the same had been pronounced an given by justices of the Peace for this island. § 6. The Mayor and City Council shall have the exclusive power to license Shops Public liouses, Taverns, and other places for the sale of spirituous and furmentcd Liquors -witliili the City ; anything in any other Act to the contrary iiotwitlistutiding. pttrstizint to t e Acts of the General Assembly now in force or ‘d thist may hereafter be in force rcliitin to the . granting of licenses for the sale of spirituous and fermented liquors, and also to suspend, annul, or make void any such licenses accord- ing to law, and the duty for such licenses, to- gether with the fees thereon shall be paid into the City Treasury before sticli licenses are granted. '3. l The City Board of Health when estab- lib ed shall have the same ower and authority, as are now vcs in the cards of Health for the different Counties of the Island. 4. The Sheriff, or Coroner, of Queen’s County, for the time bein shall not exercise sac aaccnvcning public City meetings, but the same shall be ca led by the Ma or, or on his refusal or no lent to do so, then y two or more Members 6 the City Council. The City Clerk shall have the same powers and authorit as are now vested in Clerks of the Small lebt Court, and the City .\Iiirshtil and his Deputies shall have the same powers and authorit - now posesscd by Biiililfs of said Court, provi ed he and they have given the security required of llailifls by the small Debt Act. and all fees col- lected under the provisions of this clause shall he paid into the City funds by the Clerk of the Court. (\ 8. And whereas the Act of-Incorporation limits the interest to be paid by the City on all tiioneys liorrowed under and by virtue of the revisions of the said Act to five Pounds per céntum per annum, which rate of interest it is with good reason feared will prove too low to enable the t.ity to borrow mone for City ur ones: Be it therefore further enacted, that it shall and may be lawful for theCominotiCoun- cil of the said City, to pay or engage to pay as much as six pounds per ccntum per annum upon money's to be by them borrowc under the pro- visions of the said Act, provided that such money cannot be had run lesser rate of interest after due and proper exertions made to obtain it at such lesser rate. . §‘.).
