Mnnaononr Accinni-i-.—We regret to state that James Grimes. a servant in the employ of William Heard. hq.. who had seconded the roof of Mr. Heaed'e hence for the purpose of removing a flag which had been displayed on the occasion of the Temperance Detncnetraticn, missed his footing and was peruipitated into the street, he was so injured by the fall that he survived the accident but about half an hour. It would appear that soiue briclte on the top of the chimney to which the stat!’ was fastened and by which the unfortunate men was holding. gave way, and led to the catastrophe. An iriqueet was held, and the jury returned a verdict in accordance with the circurrietauces. We are sorry tobe obligedto add that the deceased has left a widow and six children. On Thursday, the 28th instant, a Tea Party, under the auspices of the Sons of Temperance, (Agricola Division, No. 28.) came ofl' at White Sands, Lot til. At three o'clock the Sons walked in procession frotn the Diviaion Room, to the beautifully shaded grove, over which, fluttered the banner emblematical of the three grand principles ofthc Order: Love, Purity and Fidelity. The Tablea were bountifully supplied, and tastefully decorated. in a manner highly creditable to the fairer portion of the cominuuity, evidently show- ing their ability and willingness to assist in any laud- able or praieeworthy undertaking. Upwarde of two hundred took Tea, alter which the conipaay were addressed by several gentleman from a distance, who ably, briefly and lucidly reasoned on Temperance, and expressed their earueatneeo to use all their influ- ence. to promote and extend the noble reform, after which the declining day reminded the happy party that, however much we may wish the pleasant hours to linger, Time, with his ceaseless and noiseless wings, can not be bound, or caused to loiter on his way, the company separated, highly gratified with their evening's repeat and social interview.—Coei.
