In a fire in Bowers & Merrill's bookstore this afternoon, the fire department seemed at a loss to locate the fire, and began pour- ing waterinto the building at the front, when the seat of the trouble was in the rear. The fight continued in this way for about two hours, when the entire building except the front wall fell inwards. At the time there were a number of firemen on the roof of the building, and they were buried in the debris. Four dead and fifteen injured were takea out, and two more are known to be in the ruins and are supposed to be dead. The loss is over $165,000. InpIANOPOLIS, March 17—U P. M.
