It seems that some people on campus feel that the current Student Union executive aren’t trustworthy and are not working to the benefit of all students on campus. I must strongly disagree with these opinions, The executive, which we elected, works very hard for students, They do not always have an easy job, They are faced with trying to keep students heads above water ina very tough economy, They work to lobby the government for lower tuition increases and better student aid pack- ages. In their positions, they are often faced with making decisions of how to bet serve student's inter- ests, | do not believe that they are working for their own interests, or to inflate their egos. [ would also like to comment of the opinion that somehow the executive is making decisions that are not open to student scrutiny. They are elected by you, and are accountable to you. I’m very sure that if anyone contacted the Student Union office witha concern, one of the executive would be more than willing to lend an ear. Asa senate rep. onthe council, [ have always been asked to talk to my constituents about matters that may affect students. We (the coun- cil), do not operate underground, secret missions. We try to open communications and alleviate apathy. Perhaps people should try to remember that the execu- tive are human beings and are not perfect--nor do they try to be. They do however try to do their jobs well. Smear campaigns aren't the answer to your problems, communication and listening are, Sincerely, Micelle MacCallum
