Dr. Rllddick gave comparative statements on butter graded from Dec. 1, 1930, to April 4. 1931, as compared with butter graded from Dec. 3 1929. to April 5. i930. The increase in 1931 has been 108,691 boxes, oi- 200 per cent. Butter regraded during the same period showed an increase in 193i of ‘l9,- 962 boxes, or 534 per cent. Cheese graded loi- the same period showed, an increase oi’ 11,711 boxes, or 45,02 per cent. The figures are for all Canada. The suggestion was made that the increase in production in biitisr during the winter months, as comparing with the last winter was 50 per cent. Everything indicated that Canada is getting nearer the poirii, where butter will be nvflilflble for export again, but whether it will come this year or not is the 411111501011- "Improvement in the quality oi butter was discussed. Mtei- being out or the Qxporf, l-[hess for so long, it was realized that only the best can be exported when the time comes to enter markets shroud, as Canadian butter will have to compete with very tine butter. The Governmwt i8 tully aware ot the necessity of being equipped wrtii the best possible mile o! butter to meet all competition. The local trade wishes to assist all it can in improving the quality. Dr. Rudliick pointed out that his research department had been experimenting on oolor and that they had discover- ed g 0t establishing a imi- iorm color, at least a sample oi a irnltorm color.
