The bright appearance of the corner occupied by the McKinnon Drug Co, in this city has ‘neon an object of eld- iniration from all sides since the paint brush wielded hy that master- hand, John Sten-tiford, has been lav- ishly used in decorating thc exterior. The outside of the building is finished in alight green while the casing an-d woodwork around the windows and doors is in green and brown, thc green being nicely grained, the whole making a particularly pleasing etiect. ln addition to this exterior decora- tion the MacKinnon Drug (1-ompa-nv are having some work of the i-mme nature completed inside, and the ob- jcct of the proprietors seems to bi; that of providing for their many cus- tomers a store of nioet inviting and attractive nppeurance without regard to expense. The splendid fittings are most; complete and the store must. be kept in accordance with its furnish- ings. In conversation with the pro- prietors The Guardian learns that their business venture which was so nusplciousiy launched last December has ulrcady proven a success and even in the past thrce months a gain of one hundred per cent in business has been shown. This is gratif-ying to the proprietors and cn-n be taken hy them as n Proof that they enjov the contidtence of their customers who appreciate courteous treatment, up- to-date goods and lowest prices con- sistent with the highest quality of all their wares. zzilupiex Foldahies. The tircmcn were called ont yester- day itbout noon for a bla'/.e in Spring Park in a house owned by Captain Davies. There was slight damages. Owing to Spring Pork Road being confused with Spring Park in sending in the alarm there was some delay on the part of the liriiradc in reaching the scene which was, however, happi- ly unattended with any serious-rw sults. Delays in reaching tires are of very rare occurrence with the C.F.D. The report of the Fruit Growers' A-ssocintlon for t)nta1°id for 1909 gives very valuable information in regard to spraying. Jos Tweedie grew and packed upon 12 acres. of Northern Spy orchard over 3,200 bar- rels of apples. The great maififity of these were N0 1. Less than 4 per cent of thc. total production of the trees were injured by the tioddling Moth. These apples h-ad brought a gross return of $800 per acre. Wlhile it' is not likely that this could be done with Northern Spy’s hermherc is no reason why it cannot be done with Wealthics or Alexand-ers, but orchards must he properly sprayed. The report of the Fruit Growers’ Association of Ontario has come to hand and contains very much valu- aible information. It shows that the Fruit Growers of Ontario are co-0p- erating to their own advantag\e.Last year they were apic to set tho prices for the apples sold by Go-operative Associations, On Sept. 7th they sent a circular to all the Associations in Ontario, advising them that they considered the following prices right for last year. Winter varieties No 1 $3.00, No 2 $2.50; Fall varieties No 1 ;2_5(|, N0 2 $2.00. Practically all the Associations stood by this price and they had no trouble marketing' their apples.
