Hopper damage varies. harvest- ing should be very early in this division. The Dauphin division re-_ warm weather with heavy . Wheat is headed out and c grains are commencing to head. A small amount of hail but no serious damage is reported. Ex- cellent hay crop being harvested iber one player, advanced to the tscmi-finals with an easy win over ‘Bob Murray, another McGill man. Keeping pace with him was J. C. II. Edwards, Ottawa, who elimin- iated Grant McLean, Toronto sin€- tles title-holder and Ross Wilson of [Toronto who stroked his way to ia 6-4, 6-4, win over Leslie Read of Montreal. , Watt was seeded first in one of the two rackets and it was expect- tinuation of the match in which the McGill player defeated Rain- viile for the Quebec title last week, but LeCierc upset that expectation. In the first set, Watt had a 5-2 lead and twice needed only one point to win it. Each time, Le- Clerc, ranked sixth in Ontario, took the point and finally the set at 9-7. It was a different story in the second set when LeClerc took a 3-D lead and never was headed. Watt made it 3-1, then it was 4-1. 5-2, 5-3, then LeClerc ended it, breaking through Watt’s service in the final game. _ In the semi-finals tomorrow. Rlainvllle will play Wilson and Le-` Clerc will face Edwards wit-h the final Saturday. V and general indications are for a better than average grain crop. In the southern area of Sask- atchewan recent. rains have im- proved prospects but a short, patchy crop appeared to be the prospect for that area. The feed ‘situation has improved, much oi the wheat.is now in short blade and well over 50 per cent in head. The Prince Albert division reports on heavy damaging hail storm in the Hoey district but no other damage noted. Crops are in good condition. Wheat is heading out nicely and coarse grains are mak- ing splendid progress. Prospects generally are excellent. / %H H Advertising Rates-Payable in Advance Central Guardian locals lc. per word# Western and Eastern locals, Zo. per word;'Annonncemcnts and Coming Events, Zo. per word; Clruai il, Do. per word; ln Memoriam llc Notices 101:. inch; Lista of Floral and Spiritual Oiler- ,. pea ings, Ch-rds, eta., Ac. per mm Lotion of Condnlencc, 'illo- per mea; Neuse; or Thanks aria sppresiamm, woe. per meh or ic per word.
