Both engines. were badly wrecked, while some of the box cars were alsozreatly damaged. The collision blocked traffic on the road eome nine or ten hours,the Maritime express trom Montreal being delayed about that length of time. Itis raid that the aecident wasdue totheengineer on the light engine oversrunning his orders. ssibuilthidiastes Tus Smitn Case.— The coroner,s jury in the case of Philip Smith, the Charlotte~ town shcenaker who died at New Glas-~ gow on Monday afterroon under suspicious circumstances, will resume their investi- gation to day. According to the New Glas~ gow Chronicle, Dr Keith, who was called to see Smith on Saturday, found him suf- fering great pain which he said was caused by akick. Smith, however, would not tell the doctor who kicked him. Smith had been visiting Pictou before he was taken ill, and.some people think that he took cold or was hurt while there and that histrouble did not develop until he retur~ ned to New G'asgow.
