AT SINOLAIFS. ' —HA_Y SAUL-Car Malegash just for like sad fatality occurred‘ at Grand River on Saturday. July 5th, i929, when Leonard. the nine year old son o! Mr. and Mrs. Leo Preught of that piece lost his life b! drowning. Leonard and his brother Fred, l0, and Louis. '1, went to the shore so dig clams. Finding e. dory there they got aboard and started rowing. One of the oars got stuck in the mud and Prod. the eldest o! the two Jumped out of the dory to get it. The water was deeper than he anticipated and it was with greet difficulty that he was able to reach the shore. When he got to the shore he saw his brother Leonard struggling in the water he evidently having decided to weds ashore but es the dory had drifted farther sway from the show the water was too deep and he sank. Fortunately the third boy remained in the dory till it drifted to the opposite side 0f the creek. There it was met. by a young led Alexander McKlnnon, who rowed back to the scene of the tragedy where others had now gathered help- less on the bank as no other boat was available. This McKinnon boy. who ls the eon of Mr. and Mrs. James S. McKlnnon and is but thirteen years of age, showed un- usual pluck and preservence, swimm- ing about in the water and diving to the bottom until he finally located the body and brought it to the sur- face. Efforts at resuscitation proved- fruitless although they were con- tinued for a long time. Crest sym- pathy is felt for Mr. and Mrs. CADILLAC —FUB.'I'HEB rsn-riovtsas - a youngest child.
