Executive Vice President's Message Well it's hard to believe that this semester is coming to an end. It just seems like yesterday that I wrote in our first newsletter. This has been one crazy semes- ter. We've been pretty busy here getting things organized and forming new ideas for all of us to enjoy. I've been working steadily on our Tuition freeze awareness campaign. We've met with the minister of Education as well as the student loan office representative. We are making sure that they know our con- cerns and that education is and should be a priority. Chris Power, Phil MacDonald and I traveled to Ottawa to the CFS conference in November. This is where we met with other dele- gates from other Universities and discussed some of the issues we all face. I've also been trying to raise awareness on some issues that we can all relate to such as aids, cancer, date rape etc. We just wrapped up Aids awareness week which was a huge success. I know this brief summary doesn't tell you a whole lot of what's going on, so this is why I will invite you to come chat with me at any time. My doors is always open to sug- gestions and criticism. The Student Centre is definitely the new hub of campus and it is so great to see all of you popping in to see us. Drop by at any time, have a great Holiday and good luck with exams!!! A. (Bill) Murphy who graduated from St. Dunstan's University in 1948. The Murphy family has provided a leadership gift to UPEI to recognize the impor- tance of education in the development of family and community. Kathleen Murphy and her eight children, all of whom studied at UPEI, attend- ed the naming ceremony.
