A train, consisting of two flat and one box car, was shunting. While in the act of running the box car up the siding, Mr. Sullivan stood on the flat car and. pulled the connec’- ing pin to let the box car go. After doing this he a yparently faint ed, fell on the fla’ car and eed off on the track. The flat cars which have break beams three inches from the rail were still ronning toward the siding. The bresk beam on one side caught Mr. Sullivan by the head, and as it di 1. a brakesman—Actemas Me- Donald —eanght him by the feet, and as Mr. Sullivan was boing pushed along by the break beam, with his head on the rail, Mr. McDonald, by lifting him from the track, succeeded in re Jeasing him from hia perilous position, after he had been pushed along the track in the manner adove deseri bed, a distance of thi rty or thirty-five Ms. Sullivan Was quite unconscious when released ; but althoug ah his face and head are badly cut, he miracu lously escaped serious injury.
