(U.P.>— Milady need not worry about the jewel in the ring on iicr finger slipping from the prongs if the metal alloy worked out in the lob- oratorics of‘ Montana state school of mines is s. success. v Metalurgists at the school have hrmulotcd a hardening process which they believe will enable jcw- elers to harden the more precious metals without destroying beauty. The research WOTRCTS already have successfully hardened copper through o precipitation process with the addition of about two pcr cent of nickle sillcide. The resulting alloy was nearly twice as strong as struc- tural steel, but still retained the es- sential characteristics of copper. The copper hardened in ‘manner showed extraordinary abil- itay to take the most delicate cast- of Dr. Robert and Mrs. Whiston. They, being seated opposite the cake, had quite forgotten this ifn- portant date, and had to be remind- ed of it by congratulations. So, needless to say they were greatly surprised and delighted. Following the evening session, Mr. Robert Shaw read an address to the "Whistoiis" and presented Dr. Whis- ton with n pair of gold cufl links and Miss Emily Platts presented Mrs. Whiston with a beautiful hook- ed "Rug," on behalf of the different “Groups? ‘Miss Ruth Dickieson presented the wedding coke. An ad- dress and solo were given by Rev. H. R. Bell and also an address was given by Rev. M. Waterworth. The speaker for the Sunday morning service was Rev. Wm. Quigley, and the afternoon, a Confe-“flzze session. Rev. Wilfred Outhouse gave the ad- dress at this session. At the last ses- sion, Mr. J. B. Lewis sang a solo, also Miss Amanda Cannon, and a duet by Miss Cannon and Mrs. Barry McLean, of the Summerside Church, after which Dr. Whiston preached his farewell sermon.
