At St. T heresais Church An impressive celebration was held yesterday at St. Theresa's Church to mark the silver Jubilee of the ordination of Rev. J.E. Croken with Solemn High Mass being celebrated by Father Croken. assisted by Rev. Patrick Rooney, Alberta, as deacon, and Rev. L. Buote, Idaho, as subcieacon, both former classmates of Father Croken who was ordained on June 26, i927. Rev. Phalen Mcxenna offic- iated as master of ceremonies. The address was delivered by Rev.- J. W. Mccardle who chose as his text, St. John, Chap. 15, verse 16: "You have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and have ap- pointed you that you should go and'should bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain". Father Mccardle spoke eloquent- ly on the holy priesthood and im institution by Christ. He spoke of the dignity and offices of the priesthood, of the close association of the priest with his parishioners. and his unfailing interest in their spiritual well-being, He congrat- ulated Father Croken on the at- tainment of his silver jubilee, twen- ty-five years of service in his priestly duties, nineteen of which had been spent in this parish. "He has ever been the worthy ambassa- dor of Christ, always the good shepherd to his flock”. the speak- er said, and to the parishioners he concluded, "This is in.Z:ed an oc- casion. of rejoicing, and I know you will offer prayers of gratitude for the many blessing which have been yours during the years Fa- ther Croken has laboured among you, We ask that God will grant him health and lerigth or days to continue his priestly labours".
