explained -the Stanley did not leave the
Harbor yesterday morning. The 'very
successful round trip made on the pre-.
vious day proved to the entire satisfaction
of all interested that under present condi-
tions two round trips dailyfcould easily be
made if necessary and the fact that the
steamer was allowed to lie idle yesterday
in the mildest of weather with it large
quantity of freight and a number of
passengers waiting for her has given rise
toa good deal of pretty severe criticism `
and much disappointment. She is
however advertised to leave this morning
t 8 o`clock for Cape Tormentine.

Summerside Board of Trade was held
yesterday morning in the office of the
town clerk. The president.Mr. R. C.
McLeod, explained that in view: of the
favorable circumstances connected the
Stan1ey`s experimental trip to Cape Tor
mentine on Xmas Day establishing almost
beyond doubt the fact that daily commun-
ication can be maintained on this route
under. ordinary winter conditions, it is
most desirable that such repairs be made
to Cape Torrnentine pier as will facilitate
thelanding of passengers .and freight as
well as insure of the safety of the
steamer while lying there. He also
rresotnmendeii that steps be taken to
`indut-e the department to transfer the
mails to this route so as to remedy the
present most unsatisfactory mail service
by which as has happened during the past
week several days elapsed without a. mail
being- received [rom abroad. A committee
was appointed to communicate with Sir
L. II. Davies and telegrams in accordance
with th: pre.~ident`s suggestions were
ft rwardcd.
