XXXIX. All goods, wares and merchandize, for which no permit shall have been procured, shall be delivered, if landed by the captain or commandant of any such steamship, to the Preventive Officer for the Port, who shall store the same in some convenient warehouse, at the risk and expense of the owner, who, on pro- duction of a permit and payment of all expen— see, and the freight therefor, shall be entitled to have the said goods delivered to him. XL. All veSSels proceeding up any river in this Island and passing a port of entry, shall make an entry of their cargoes at such last na’med port of entry before proceeding further, under a penalty (of fifty pounds, to be paid by the master or owner of the said vessel, and recovered in the way and manner directed for the recovery of penalties under the said recited Act of the nineteenth Victoria, chapter one. XLI. This Act shall go into operation and be in force immediately on the passing thereof, and from thence shall continue and be in force until the first day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and Seventy XLII. So soon as this Act shall go into operation, the Act of the thirty-first Victoria, chapter one, intituled “ An Act for raising a Revenue, shall be, and the same is hereby re- ealed. XLIII.
