[Passed 24th April,'1868.~1 IIEREAS the Act made andpassedin the- V' Twenty-secondyear of the reign of Her present Majesty, Chapter eight, intituled “ An Act for regulating the size and quality of fish barrels and tierces,_and the weight of fish made up therein, and for the appointment‘of fish in- spectors, - also ’ to regulate the inspection of pickled fish for sale Within this Island, and to repeal a certain Act therein mentioned,” has been allowed to expire contrary to the intention ‘Uf theLegislature, and it is deemed expedient to revive and continue the same—Be it there- fore enacted, by theuLieutenant Governor, Coun- cil, and Assembly, that the said recited Act of the Twenty-second 'year of the reign of Her said Majesty Queen ‘ViCtoria, Chapter eight, shall be, and the same is hereby revived and continued for the space of ten years from the passing hereof, and from thence 'to ,the end of the then next session of the, General Assembly of this Island and no longer. * An. Act to consolidate antia’mend the L"setrer‘al Laws relating to Education. a - t 1 ' :[Passesttth April, 1868.] HEREAS the Laws now in «force estab- " lishing a system of —free education in this ISland require consolidation and amendment 1' I. Be it therefore-enacted by the Lieutenant Governor, Council and Assembly, that from and after ‘the .‘passing of this Act, the several Acts-ilie‘reinafter mentioned, that is to say : 'An Act, 'made ‘and fpaSsed in the twenty-fourth year of the reign of, Her present Majes- Iity, Chapter thirty-six, An Act made and, " iii; ' passed in the twenty-sixth year of the same reign, Chapter’five, an Act made'and passed in the thirtieth year of the same reign, Chapter eight, (except as hereinafter except‘ed,) and for the purposes hereinafter mentioned, and the sixth, Seventh, twelfth ‘and "thirteenth sections of the Act Of the tiventy-seventh Victoria, Chapter thirty-one, shall be and the same are hereby Severally and reSpect‘i‘vely repealed. II‘. From and after the pas<ing of this Act the Lieutenant Governor in Council shall nomi- nate and appoint Eleven fit and proper persons. to be and constitute a Board of Education, one of which number shall be appointed by tllu Lieutenant Governor in Council "to 5 be the Secretary of the Board, and two othermembers thereof shall, in like manner, be appointed a~z examining members, Whose duty it shall be tn examine candidates for licenses to teach, under the orders and regulations of the Board, and to attend the meetings of such Board‘as ordinary members theme-f. ' ' III. Five members oi? the Board shall, be a. quorum, and the Board shall meet on the last Thursday in each month, and shall give notice of the place and time of every such monthly meeting, by advertizing 'the same in the It'y/N/ Gazette newspaper of this Island, atleast ten days previous to such' meeting, and the said Board may meet on such other and further d ays as they may deem necessary, from time to time, without such notice being required to'be' given. IV. The regular examination meetings 01 the Board shall be once in every two months, on the last Thursday in the month, commencing with the month of '{January in each year, and in'eaeh case, for the, purpose of examination, the Board may adjourn from day today, and also hold special meetings for the same purpose, asp'may be arranged or ordered by the Board from time to time. ‘
