The efficial entry will be made this afternoon at 2 o’clock. tee Loxypon, June 5.—The official intelli- gence regarding what is transpiring out- side, there ie little or nothing, Lord Roberts is silent. Nevertheless, by piecing togetber news from the various correspondenis, it would seem that Lord Roberts’ immédiate army is all employed north of Johannesburg except one brigade which is at Johanne*burg, and that the six columns are conyéfging on Pretoria. Undated News Agéncy messages from Pretoria; via Lorenzo Mesrques, June 4th say: ‘“' Pretofia is powinvested by the Brftish. No resistance will be offered. “The city will be surrendered by the Burgomaster as 8000 as » formal demand is made.” This message purports to come in C2 GE Se ee RE President Kruger commandg the tele- graph eastward from Pretoria and the telegraphic news from Pretoria to Lorenzo Marques has ceased, but the messengers of newspaper correspondents continue to go to and fro on the railway. From Lorenzo Marques comes a des- patch dated June 4th, saying: It is known that some great British movement is in progress outside of Pretoria. The mysterious movements of President Krug:r’s secre‘ary and physician, par- ticularly their secret visit to the Dutch warship Frieskand, which is in the har- vor here, has aroused suspicion. News from minor theatres of hostilities is less cryptic. The Boers operations to break Lord , Roberts’ communications have beea com- | pletely baffied and the Boer co'um 18 are in danger of being surrounded by the Bri- tish force at Ficksburg, Senekal, Heilbron and Lindley. : Genera: Rundle, ivstead of throwing himeelf against the Boers entrevched at Bedulphberg,Jmoved toward Fi icksburg aud established communication with General The Boers marcted parallel with Geu. Rundle intending to seize a strong poais tion on the Fickeburg road. But Rundle was there first. The 1500 Boers who were in this moye- ment are now reported to be going elee- where. 1 pa A LITTLE EXPERIENCE. Left our camp at daylight, Mon- day merning, to begin the march ot Winberg. The whole divieion was supposed to move, but as the Highland Brigade was away somewhere else they did not come with us. About ten o’clocs on Monday morning we were stopped by heavy firing ahead and in a few minutes it began tosonnd on ali sides. Very shortly we found ourselves com- pletely surreunded and that the Boers were using artillery which far outranged ours. In frout of ur, as usaal, was & range of hills varying from 500 to 1000 feet high and on these the Boer riflemen were posted. The actors take their parts well, They don’t greatly overact—the beet of them not at all—and they hold the mirror up to nature fairly well. Horace Greengage Bobbins(Mr Taunehill) was particularly funny, and the ladies were all good. Messrs. Walcott, Lang, Keenan and Wooderson acted well their several parts. Altogether the com- pany is a well-balanced one and worthy of public patronage. Se THE DEBENTURES. Stayed there all night with fixed bayonets, wait- ing for au attack which never came. We were neatly frozer, and were hungry as well. In the morning we advanced, and those of us on the left who had good. cover got come splendid shooting.
