Stan- ley D'amond and Ronald Moore. testified last night that they had not noticed any cars immediate- ly prior to the collision.The Paugh car had stopped to Mrs. Dorothy Louiu Cotton, mother of driver Lowell Cotton. who was seated on the passen- ger side of the front seat at the time of the collision. said that as the Cotton car passed the North- am Road on the Western High- way approximately one mile from the scene of the collision she saw an object ahead which turned out to be the Paugh ve- h . The next thing she recalled was seeing “this car coming to- wards us straddling the white line". She was quite sure at the time. she added. that the oncom- ing car was going to pull over. but at the last moment her son said “look out, he is going to hit us“ Upon cross-examination by Mr. McMahon. Mrs. Cotton said she didn't recall giving investi- gating RCMP Constable Fred Connolly a statement on the 11th of October in which she said she didn't recall anything exoept that the accident had happened on the Western Road.
