ON Monday evening the Victoria liockey Team cf Charlottetown visited New Glas- gow and played a match with New Glas- gow team. The game resulted in a win 3-l for the home team but it was of the sort that would be better to have left unplayad. The fault did not lie so much with the contesting teams as with the referee who had no charge ofthe game at. all and permitted all sorts of slashing, oli- side and rough play. It took about two hours to play the game through and with the exception of the last few minutes of the time the play had very little sem- blance to hockey. Several of the players were knocked cut. The game under a stood referee might have been interesting as the visitors showed that they could play good hockey and were fast skaters though they suffered a little from not being good shuts. But without proper control and restraint both teams went in to win regardless of the usual line points ofthe game with a disappointing result to the audience md incidentally it might be re- marked to some of the visitors from a neighboring town who were financially interested. This financial interest probab- ly was the primary cause of so trouble- some agame.-New Glasgow Chronicle. sl_._._s.
