The meeting was presided over by the Mayor. B. H. Yeo. Present were Councillors Jamleson. Hessian. Nicholson, Macbeod, and Reynolds. Following the reading oi the minutes, the bills were read and ordered paid. Correspondence was also read. Councillor Nicholson re- ported that the Fire Department had acquired struck for the chemi- cal. and that it was being out- fitted to becomeafire fighting unit carrying ladders. hose and all oth- er necessary i ment. He also reported that the dam at the Burnt Bridge was almost complet- ed but thin. the approach yet re- mained to be cleared. Mr. Les Msci.cod was appointed chairman of the sanitation com- mittee .and it was moved that a sanitary engineer be brought to Montague to inspect the town re- garding sanitation. It was decided that action against delinquent tax payers would he proceeded with in the next week or two as soon as court ar- rangements were completed, unless such tax arrears were paid during the interim. Considerable dis- cussion followed regarding transient labour, and it was moved that the town by-law be enforced . ” all persons not resident tax payers who come to this town in pursu- ance of their different avocations must before beginning their work pay license fees for the year. it was also decided to hold a special meeting as soon as the town assessment lists were com- pleted, sltcr which the tax notices would be sent out.
