THE New Brunswick Magazine, the
initial number of which we noticed three
months since. has now reached its third
issue. The September number now to
hand; is quite the equal of the preceding
numbers in respect to the interest and
importance of the contents. Mr James
Hannay has the first ot a series cf
papers on the early French settlers, be-
ginning with the first Acadian census and

the early English settlers at Sr. John
bringing to light much that is wholly
new. Jonas Howe furnishes a com-

ries and Provincial Biography are well
sustained. The Magazine has 57 pages
and is finely prin‘ed. It is edited and
published by W. K. Repnolds. St. John,
at $1.50 a year, and as an educitor in
Masonic.-A regular Convocation of

THE Hillsboro Boating Club are ar-
ranging tor a race to take place on
Saturday. 10th September. Boats be-
tween 18 and 24 feet on the water.-line
will be known as fits -class and boats
