Usually a mill run is had for thirty days before a clean up is made, and in this way the average working value ot the ore per ton, and monthly results of the workings oi the mine are ascertained. The first clean up (after a thirty day run) at this mine took place a little over a mouth ago, but the English Company working the proper- ty did not let the public into its confi- dence, and all th__e information the Can- adian shareholders received was, that the mill run had been very satisfactory. which was also evidenced 'oy large or- ders for shares sent to our local brokers. by-pinvestorsfat Nelson. where the mine is situated. The second clean up took place this week. .hut as before no oiii- cial information as to results. has been given to the shareholders of the old Athabasca Company. It was expected that this last month’s clean-up would shew high values. From several tele- grsms received in Toronto yesterday, but from nnoflicisl_resources, it is ssti- msted that this lsst clean, up, taking the gold recoveredtrom the places and concentrrors together. would average about $35 to the tons which it indica- tive of the average vilue ot the ore be- ing mined, would make this one ot the great mines ot British Columbia. The shares of the old Athabasca Company on our local market are held very firm. ._The option on the shares ot the cld Athabasca Company held by the new English Company. expires at the end of this month. and it taken np, the shareholders will receive hondsome re- turns on their investments, but from remarks made by the President of the B. C. Gold Fields Company, (which owns nearly one~sixth of the Athabss. ca) to the shareholders of the B. C. Gold Fields Company at its recent an- nual meeting, “The World” concludes that the shareholders of the old com- pany would prefer an exchange of their entire holdings for shares in the new English Company. rather than the cash value of the option. The shareholders are looking forward to substantial dividends early in the new year. and from present indications they will not he disappointed. (T-he B. C.
