Sheen of Eimsdale United Church A solo, "My Jesus I Love Thee.” was rendered by Rev. Mr. sheen. her. (7.0. Hnwlett of O'l.eary Baptist Church gave the address. The topic was ”Cill'i51iilll P.”aycl"'. Basing his address on the story of Peter's mir- aculous escape from prison. the speaker pointed out that the Church at prayer can overcome the iron gate of sin. of difficulty and of death Tuesday evening the service was conducted by Rev. J. M Sheen. assisted by Rev. J. R. McMahon of St. Peterls Anglican Church. "Great Is Thy Faithful- ness" wu rendered its a solo by Rev. G. B. Cunningham, who also was the speaker. The topic was "Christian Faith." Christian faith isfnot blind hope but full assur- ance. Faith is active. To have faith. said the speaker, one must be conscious of a need of Christ. Without faith there is no salva- tion. On Wednesday Rev. P. A. Fitzpatrick led the service with assistance from Rev. W. Wilcox of the Elmsdaie Nazarlno Church and Rev. J. M. Sheen. The topic was "Christian Discipline", and the speaker was Rev. Mr. Wilcox. As an individual is distinguished -by his finrgerprlnts, his national- ity. etc.. so a Christian will be distinguished by the marks of Christ; and as a child bears rc- semlblance to his parents. so will a Christian bear resemblance to God. As some of the marks of a Christian. the speaker named love for God, self renunciation. purity of heart and life. compassion for the lost and a desire to save them. and the Christian will have a fixed purpose. The greatest thing in the world is to find God's will for you and to do it. The whole duty of a Christian may be siunmed up in the words of the prophet: to do justly, to love mercy and to walk humbly with God. Thursday's evening worship was conducted by Rev. W. Wilcox, assisiccl by Rev. P. A. Fitzpatrick and Rev. G. B. Cunningham. The topic was "Christian Hope" and the address woe given by Rev. Mr. Fitzpatrick. He pointed out that Christian hope and Christian faith are vitally united. Christian hope is one of the distinctive char- acteristics of our religion. ll. is the star that guides us in the darkest night. Christian hope is based on God. It is the anticipa- tion of some promised good. God can give victory in t-he place of defeat. Referring to these days of world crisis and upheaval. the speaker reminded his hearers that penpiexlty and doubt are not new things. The task of the Church is to compel faith in God's power and dispel discouragement. Faith in the Christ who was cruel-i fied and rose victorious from the dead gives us hope. The fast: of the Church is to spread the good news of hope. The closing service on Friday was conducted by Rev. J. R. McMahon, assisted by Rev. W. Wilcox. The topic was "Chris- tian Love." Basing his message on John 8: 16. Rev. J. M. Sheen pointed out how Christian lovs expresses itself umelfishly, sterl- ficlslly and redempiively.
