Orrawa, July 39. Before the Tarte-McGreevy inquest yes- terday George Perley, son of Chief En- gineer Perley, flatly contradicted Robert McGreevy’'s testimony that two thousand dollars had been giveu him by the Connoliy firm to give his father. He had never re- ceived it nor heard of it. Robart McGreevy’s evidence was then continued. He would uot deny that he had abstracted his brother's private papers. He had guarreiled with his brother Thomas four years ago, because Thomas had de- nounced him as a thief, after thirty years of dealing together. Thowas McGreevy’s evidence was ordered for this morping. Public Accounts Enquiry The Investigation Continued. No Evidence of Imporiance. Orrawa, July 30. Inthe Public Accounts Committee a carpenter employed about the Department- al Buildings testified that he had done odd jobs for Hon, Mr. Dewdney after hours for which Dewdney paid him. No irregulraity | was proved. | A messenger was then examined who testified to performing domestic services at Dewdney's residence, such as waiting at table, ete. He refused to state what Mr. Dewdney paid him, saying that was his own business. Somerville tried to force an ‘answer to this, but the Committee sus- ‘tained the witness and stopped further , impertinent questions. ef Other instances of clerks receiving extra _pay for extra work were produced, but nothing startling was elicited. | f | ‘aes Weather Bulletin. ioe ee te ane ie Local Notices.
