Hatirax, June 9. , 4 miniature cyclone struck the city at 2 o’clock this afternoon, and the harbor was lashed into fury. he British warship Bisson dragged her anchor half way across the harbor. A waterspout rose alongside the British warship Canada, and- ascended as high as the masts, but broke, and the enormous quantity of water fell back into the harbor, without doing any damage. Several small schooners coming up the har- bor were blown about like so many toys. One vessel had her sails carried away. In the streets anumber of awnings were car- ried away. The Workmen Object. CoLumpBus, Ohio, June 9. At noon the Street Car Company at- tempted to run cars, but were interrupted by fully 10,000 workmen, who suddenly made their appearance, blocking Long Street and derailing a car. Ancther car started out, but was stopped at High Street, lifted off the track and placed across the street. The company contemplate ask- ing for the aid of the military, Big Libel Suit. Lonpon, June 9. George Washington Butterfield, an American, has brought action for libel against the Financial News, placing damages at £100,000. The aileged libel consisted of a statement published by the Financial News, asserting that the mining operations in the United States, in which Butterfield is interested, was an impudent and wild scheme, Quebec Elections.
